Sue Lewis

I started my academic career working for a professor and taking Russian classes at Harvard while on my gap year. After returning to the UK I graduated from King's College, London with a degree in English Language and Literature. Following two years working in Stockholm, I took up a post in West London to teach English and Drama and to complete a theatre a.rts course, with a view to a possible career in acting.
However, I chose to stay in the field of education and moved to North Wales, eventually becoming Equal Opportunities Coordinator for Clwyd, responsible for gender and race issues in schools and college and for Traveller Education and ESL. During this time, I represented Wales in the European Women's Lobby in Brussels.
After gaining my MA in Education, I have been a lecturer at MMU since 1993 moving from secondary ITT to becoming subject leader for Education Studies within the Combined Honours Programme.
My research interests are in education for social justice and mentoring for inclusion.
